Aryaman Ghildiyal is a student at The International School of Dakar. As the main force behind the Turning Tides project, Aryaman brings great passion and dedication to its initiatives. At school, he is an active member of the student community through his participation in the Leadership Council, MUN Club, and Research Writing Enrichment. He takes his academic interest in the environmental sciences forward through initiatives such as his “The Coast is Clear” blog on Medium.com, where he highlights methods of marine conservation in juxtaposition with coastal communities who rely on them for livelihoods.
Aryaman’s passion and endeavors are complemented by a love for music and sports. He began his journey by playing drums. Exploring rock and pop genres, he plays songs such as Smells Like Teen Spirit by Nirvana and Monalisa by Lojay. By 2019, he mastered the saxophone, playing some memorable pieces; including No Woman No Cry, He’s A Parrot, and Hedwig’s Theme. His multifarious abilities and unwavering dedication to each of his endeavors are characteristic of his commitment to creating positive change in the fishing communities of West Africa.
